 President

Lanor Curole, a proud member of the United Houma Nation in southeast Louisiana, has dedicated her life to the betterment of her community. As a lifelong resident of Lafourche Parish, she resides within the tribal community and serves as the Tribal Administrator, a role she has passionately fulfilled since 2012.

Growing up in the close-knit community of Golden Meadow, Lanor's family thrived seasonally off the land, embodying a life deeply connected to nature. Her mother, the daughter of a fisherman, navigated an educational landscape marked by the challenges of the "Settlement School," a system of separate but equal education. As a trailblazer, Lanor became the first in her family to graduate from high school in 1990, a testament to her determination and resilience.

Lanor's academic journey led her to achieve a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from Nicholls State University and a Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Western Washington University. Her commitment to education and professional growth reflects her dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of her people.

Having been associated with the United Houma Nation since her teenage years, Lanor's journey includes various roles within the tribal community. Starting as a student engaged during summers and holidays, she later assumed the role of Recording Secretary for the Tribal Council during her college years. Lanor's early success in grant writing paved the way for her to become the Director of the Tribal Vocational Rehabilitation Program in 2000.

Throughout her tenure, Lanor has been instrumental in implementing ongoing Community Needs Assessments, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of overall community health factors. This knowledge has fueled the development of programs addressing disparities prevalent across the tribal community. Additionally, she has played a crucial role in establishing robust systems for emergency operations post-disaster, showcasing her foresight and commitment to community resilience.

In her current capacity as Tribal Administrator, Lanor shoulders the responsibility of overseeing the day-to-day operations of the tribe. This includes managing all programs and projects, as well as contributing to strategic planning and development initiatives. For Lanor, working for the betterment of the Tribe is not just a responsibility; it is an honor and a privilege that she approaches with unwavering dedication and pride.
